Help Opus 40 acquire Harvey Fite's Sculptures

Tax deductible
Opus 40 Sculpture Park is urgently asking our friends and supporters to assist us in acquiring a large body of sculptures created by Opus 40's founding artist, Harvey Fite, and currently being sold to the public in Saugerties. Our hope is to acquire and reunite the sculptures with our site, where many of these pieces have lived since Fite created them and where they have been seen by the public for more than 40 years.

Acquiring these sculptures will assist us in fulfilling our mission to protect and enhance Harvey Fite's legacy and preserve his works — large and small, in-earth and studio-created, wood, stone and metal, on a variety of themes — while offering access to his remarkable oeuvre to a diverse audience.

If these items are sold to individuals or private collections, the public may not see them again.

We hope that you will help us in acquiring these remarkable sculptures through this emergency fundraiser. These pieces are an essential part of the legacy of Harvey and Barbara Fite, and our organization's history — and they could play an essential role in our future.

We do not have the funding to purchase these without your support, and we hope to act before it’s too late. Please email us if you have any questions — you can contact us through our website, www.opus40.org.

Our ongoing preservation efforts — including a multiyear sculpture conservation project and stewardship of our historic quarry trails — include developing a catalog of Fite’s sculptures and locate as many works as possible for exhibit on our site.
