Help to open a local book store in North Potomac!

LOVE Books & Music will not only sell books, music, and gifts – we’ll be an analog, in-person cultural hub with live events and workshops.

Independent books stores are coming back as successful small businesses and focal points for communities. Personally, I’ve always wondered why the home of the Gaithersburg Book Festival didn’t have a locally-owned, independent book store nearby! You have to drive at least a half-hour -- in any direction -- to find one!

Plus, in an era of online algorithms and widespread loneliness, we need neighborhood spaces where people can congregate, and share their talents and intellectual pursuits without barriers.

I've put together a robust business plan, made financial projections, consulted other book store owners and the American Booksellers Association's data -AND- I am in talks with the landlord of a great location. So, IT'S REALLY HAPPENING! I aim to open LOVE Books & Music within the year!

As you can guess, opening a retail store has big start-up costs.

The seed money raised through this campaign will help to secure a location and act as the down payment for a small business loan. The lower our loan, the lower the monthly costs, and the more likely this new business will thrive in the long term for our community.

All donors will be invited to opening events and get LOVE swag!!
