Help Opal Become My Guide Dog

Donation protected
My name is Katie, and I’m the proud owner of Opal, a seven-month-old German Shepherd puppy in training to become my future guide dog. Training a service dog is a journey filled with hope, patience, and dedication, and Opal and I have been making steady progress together every day.

Recently, everything changed when I experienced a sudden emergency health event that sent me to the ER and required a hospital stay. With no one available to care for Opal, I had to place her in a boarding facility. The experience was stressful for her, and she began to struggle with new behaviors. Now that I’m home, I’m still recovering and unable to give Opal the care and training she needs right now.

Thankfully, I found an experienced dog trainer who can board and train Opal for the next four weeks, giving her the support she needs to get back on track. This program is recommended by her breeder and will give Opal the best chance to continue her journey toward becoming a guide dog. If Opal succeeds, she will help me move through life independently, safely, and confidently. I want to make sure the trainer is compensated fairly for their work, but the cost is more than I can manage alone.

I’m reaching out for help so Opal can get the training she needs while I recover. Your support will make a real difference in both of our lives, and I’m deeply grateful for any help you can give. Thank you for believing in us and being part of our journey.
