Hello friends,
Most of you know me, and some may remember the informal fundraiser I did for the tornado victims in Mayfield, Kentucky. In a matter of days, we raised $4517.24 for Habitat for Humanity in Louisville, Kentucky. I have the letter from Rob Locke, the CEO, that thanked us for our efforts, not to mention the personal efforts the Mikii donated, i.e., the most valuable resource... time.
So, I have a 15-year-old son who is in the Ooltewah High School Marching Band. Ooltewah, as a community, is expanding, and that means that the school (and the band) are expanding. Last year their numbers were in the 30s, this year close to 50, and the projection is that next year could be close to 100. But, as you can see from the pictures, they don't have uniforms. This is a completely objective opinion, but they are one of the best, if not the best band, marching or concert, in Hamilton County, and they have the awards to prove it. They have a passionate band director, passionate band members, but no uniforms. What you see in the picture is a step up from what they started the year in, which was denim jeans and an Ooltewah T-shirt.
Long story short (too late for that), I am starting a GoFundMe page to raise funds so that next year, when their numbers approach 100, and they SOUND like the band they are, that they can be properly outfitted in appropriate uniforms. The uniforms cost $500 each. We do fundraisers constantly, concessions at the games, car washes, you name it. They are game for anything that gets them out of the house.
If you think this is worthy of a donation, I simply ask that you do. If not, and you just want to wish us luck, that is okay.
That's all I have.
Thank you for getting this far and, well, thank you period.
Sincerely,
Randy Mikus
