Wat als je pas 7 en 10 jaar oud bent en je leven opeens volledig stil komt te staan?

Dit overkwam onze twee jongens. Al 3 jaar lang zijn de meest vanzelfsprekende dingen in het leven voor hen slechts dromen.

Naar school gaan, voetballen, muziekles volgen en buiten spelen met vriendjes, dat is wat ze het liefste deden. Nu is dit allemaal onmogelijk.

Hun leven is nu gevuld met zenuwpijn, extreme uitputting, duizeligheid en wanhoop. We rouwen om alles wat ze niet meer kunnen, maar blijven vechten voor een betere toekomst voor onze twee jongens.

Dankzij alle lieve donaties die we tot nu toe hebben ontvangen, zijn we begonnen met behandelingen. Onze oudste zoon heeft inmiddels twee behandelingen gehad en begint langzaam maar zeker te herstellen. Afgelopen week is hij zelfs weer even op school geweest. Onze jongste zoon begint in augustus met de behandelingen.

Onze kinderen worden behandeld door de gerenommeerde kinderarts dr. Danilo Buonsenso, werkzaam in het universitair ziekenhuis Agostino Gemelli in Rome.

In Rome krijgen onze kinderen IVIG-behandelingen. Dit zijn behandelingen met immunoglobulinen, die al tientallen jaren worden toegepast bij veel verschillende aandoeningen. Helaas wordt IVIG in Nederland nog niet toegepast voor Long COVID, de aandoening waaraan onze jongens lijden. Hierdoor moeten wij als ouders alle kosten zelf betalen en wordt er niets vergoed.

De kosten zijn enorm. De prijs van immunoglobulinen is de afgelopen maanden helaas fors gestegen.

Ieder kind heeft ongeveer zes behandelingen nodig, waarvan in ieder geval drie dit jaar. De kosten per behandeling bedragen voor onze jongste zoon ongeveer € 8.500,- en voor onze oudste zoon ongeveer € 10.500,-.Het verschil in de kosten zit in hun gewicht. De hoeveelheid medicatie wordt op basis van het lichaamsgewicht berekend.

Voor zes behandelingen van onze jongste zoon is daarom ongeveer € 51.000 nodig. Voor onze oudste zoon gaat het om ongeveer € 62.000.

Deze bedragen zijn voor ons te hoog om volledig zelf te kunnen dragen. Daarom hebben we jouw hulp nodig.

What if you are only 7 and 10 years old and your life suddenly comes to a complete standstill?

This is what happened to our two boys. For the past three years, the most ordinary parts of life have been nothing more than dreams to them.

Going to school, playing football, taking music lessons and playing outside with friends, those were the things they loved most. Now, all of this is impossible.

Their lives are now filled with nerve pain, extreme exhaustion, dizziness and despair. We grieve for everything they can no longer do, but we will never stop fighting for a better future for our boys.

Thanks to all the generous donations we have received so far, we have been able to begin their treatments.

Our oldest son has now received two treatments and is slowly but surely beginning to recover. Last week, he was even able to return to school for a short while. Our youngest son will begin treatment in August.

Our children are being treated by the renowned paediatrician Dr Danilo Buonsenso at the Agostino Gemelli University Hospital in Rome.

In Rome, our children receive IVIG treatment. IVIG is a treatment using immunoglobulins and has been used for many different conditions for decades. Unfortunately, IVIG is not yet offered in the Netherlands for Long COVID, the condition our boys are suffering from. This means that we, as their parents, must pay all the costs ourselves, as none of the treatment is reimbursed.

The costs are enormous, and unfortunately, the price of immunoglobulins has risen significantly in recent months.

Each child needs approximately six treatments, at least three of which will take place this year. Each treatment costs around €8,500 for our youngest son and €10,500 for our oldest son. The difference in cost is due to their weight, as the amount of medication required is calculated based on body weight.

Six treatments for our youngest son will therefore cost approximately €51,000. For our oldest son, the total will be approximately €62,000.

These amounts are simply too high for us to cover entirely on our own. That is why we desperately need your help.

Paramendo të ishe vetëm 7 dhe 10 vjeç dhe jeta jote papritur të ndalonte plotësisht

Kjo u ndodhi dy djemve tanë. Që 3 vite, gjërat më të zakonshme të jetës kanë mbetur vetëm ëndrra për ta.

Të shkonin në shkollë, të luanin futboll, mësime muzike dhe të luanin jashtë me shokët, këto ishin gjërat që donin më shumë. Tani, asgjë nga këto nuk është më e mundur.

Jeta e tyre tani është e mbushur me dhimbje nervore, rraskapitje ekstreme, marramendje dhe dëshpërim. Na dhemb zemra për gjithçka që nuk mund të bëjnë më, por vazhdojmë të luftojmë për një të ardhme më të mirë për dy djemtë tanë.

Falë të gjitha donacioneve që kemi marrë deri tani, kemi mundur të fillojmë trajtimet.

Djali jon i madh ka kryer tashmë dy trajtime dhe po fillon ngadalë, por me siguri, të përmirsohet. Javën e kaluar ai madje mundi të shkonte përsëri për pak kohë në shkollë. Djali ynë më i vogël do t’i fillojë trajtimet në gusht.

Fëmijët tanë po trajtohen nga pediatri i mirënjohur Dr. Danilo Buonsenso, i cili punon në Spitalin Universitar Agostino Gemelli në Romë.

Në Romë, fëmijët tanë marrin trajtime me IVIG. Këto janë trajtime me imunoglobulina, të cilat përdoren prej dekadash për shumë sëmundje të ndryshme. Fatkeqësisht, IVIG ende nuk përdoret në Holandë për trajtimin e Long COVID-it, sëmundja nga e cila vuajnë djemtë tanë. Për këtë arsye, ne si prindër duhet t’i paguajmë vetë të gjitha shpenzimet.

Shpenzimet janë jashtëzakonisht të larta. Fatkeqësisht, çmimi i imunoglobulinave është rritur gjatë muajve të fundit.

Secilit fëmijë i nevojiten rreth gjashtë trajtime, të paktën tri prej të cilave do të kryhen këtë vit. Dallimi në lidhet me peshën e tyre, pasi sasia e medikamentit llogaritet në bazë të peshës trupore.
