Wij, Nicky Troost en Cris Wassenaar, tweedejaars studenten aan de St. Joost Academy of Art & Design, werken aan een betoverend volksverhaal waarin natuur en mens elkaar uitdagen in een meeslepende strijd! We willen deze film maken om aandacht te geven aan Nederlandse verhalen, aangezien deze vaak naar de achtergrond worden gedrukt in onze huidige tijd. We vinden het belangrijk om ons aan onze cultuur te houden en deze door te geven.

Synopsis:

In een afgelegen boerderij in 1876 ontdekt Anne dat haar vader Samuel, een jager gedreven door menselijke hebzucht, het bos naar zijn ondergang helpt. Wanneer een mysterieus monster uit het donker haar waarschuwt voor de dood van de natuur door de acties van haar vader, moet Anne hem confronteren en kiezen tussen haar liefde voor hem of het helpen van het monster om het stervende bos te redden.

Wij willen met onze film jullie terugnemen naar een tijd waarin boswezens rond onze aarde liepen en wij volledig afhankelijk waren van het land om te overleven. Ook willen wij dit zo accuraat mogelijk vastleggen door middel van kostuums, passende make-up, props en visuele effecten, evenals het regelen van algemene zaken zoals catering voor de cast/crew en reiskosten. Hier zit echter een prijs aan en daarom hopen wij, als filmstudenten, op jullie bijdrage om deze “period piece” tot leven te kunnen wekken.

We begrijpen dat geld krap is tegenwoordig, dus willen wij jullie iets teruggeven! Als officiële sponsor ben je uitgenodigd om de première van de film bij te wonen in onze expositie op het St. Joost in Breda! Ook krijg je je eigen speciale plekje op de aftiteling van de film!

Om ons project te realiseren, streven wij naar een budget van 600. Doneren kan via hier op GoFundMe.com. Het geld komt dan terecht op ons account en kunnen wij vervolgens gelijk aan de slag om jullie dat plekje in de aftiteling te geven en een film te leveren waar we allemaal trots op zijn!

Dear everyone,

We, Nicky Troost and Cris Wassenaar, second-year students at St. Joost Academy of Art & Design, are working on an enchanting folk tale in which nature and humankind clash into one another! We want to make this film to draw attention to Dutch stories and culture, as these are often pushed into the background in our current times. We believe it’s important to stay connected to our folklore and to pass these on.

Plot synopsis: In a remote farmhouse in 1876, Anne discovers that her father, Samuel, a hunter driven by human greed, is aiding the destruction of the forest. When a mysterious monster from the dark warns her of nature’s imminent death due to her father’s actions, Anne must confront him and choose between her love for him or helping the monster save the dying forest.

With our film, we aim to take you back to a time when forest creatures roamed our earth and we were fully dependent on the land to survive. We also want to capture this time period as accurately as possible through costumes, makeup, props, and visual effects, as well as arranging necessary practical matters like catering for the cast & crew and travel expenses. This is unfortunately not free, however, so we, as film students, are hoping for your contribution to bring this "period piece" to life.

We understand that money is tight these days, so we want to give something in return! As an official sponsor, you are invited to attend the film’s premiere at our exhibition at St. Joost in Breda! You will also get your own special spot in the film's credits!
