Lieve familie en vrienden,

Onze lieve opa, vader en man is in september 2021 vertrokken naar Istanbul Turkije.

Door omstandigheden is zijn weekend weg uitgelopen in maanden van huis.

Nezaar was onder behandeling van de cardioloog en longarts in het Erasmus MC ziekenhuis in Rotterdam.

Er stonden in oktober 2021 een aantal grote onderzoeken gepland, helaas is het leven anders gelopen dan gepland.

Nezaar heeft maanden in en uit het ziekenhuis gelopen in het ziekenhuis, hij kon op geen mogelijkheid naar huis.

En door de corona omstandigheden kon de familie niet erbij om hem bij te staan er was 24/7 goed (video) bel contact met Nezaar.

Uiteindelijk heeft Nezaar’s lichaam uit vermoeidheid het opgegeven.

Hij is op 11 januari 2022 in elkaar gezakt en zodanig ernstig dat hij gereanimeerd moest worden op zijn verblijfsadres in Turkije.

Hij is per ambulance vervoerd naar het universitair medisch ziekenhuis in Istanbul.

Hier is geconstateerd dat Nezaar’s longen zodanig beschadigd zijn dat het niet mogelijk was voor hem om zelf te ademen, daarom is hij in coma gezet om het voor zijn lichaam makkelijker te maken.

Inmiddels zijn wij als kinderen naar Turkije afgereisd, omdat het voor ons het laatste afscheid kon betekenen.

Gelukkig was op dat moment zijn hart stabiel, en zijn wij omdat wij geen mogelijkheden hadden en niet op de hoogte waren wat de opties waren terug gereisd naar Nederland.

Na een week na terugkomst is er contact opgenomen door de artsen in Turkije dat een van de kinderen terug moest komen om papieren te tekenen voor een operatie zodat er een Tracheostoma geplaatst zou kunnen worden.

Ook hiervoor is zijn dochter terug gereisd naar Turkije om dit in orde te maken.

Maar inmiddels twee weken verder heeft deze operatie nog niet plaats gevonden omdat zijn longen zodanig beschadigd zijn dat het niet mogelijk is om te opereren.

Na overal informatie inwinnen blijkt Nezaar niet verzekerd te zijn via de ziekenfonds voor repatriëring.

Ook via de reisverzekering blijkt dit een ingewikkelde zaak te zijn omdat op het moment dat Nezaar naar Turkije afreisde het reisadvies oranje was, en dus wel de medische kosten gedekt zouden kunnen worden maar de repatriëring niet.

Na contact met de ministerie van Buitenlandse zaken zijn wij erachter gekomen dat er een verzoek voor repatriëring kan worden gedaan maar dat zij niet voor de kosten zullen opdraaien.

Wij hebben contact gezocht met meerdere repatriëring’s maatschappijen.

Om Nezaar in kunstmatige coma medisch te kunnen laten vervoeren met gepland transport van Istanbul naar Rotterdam.

Daarom vragen wij jullie hulp, als jullie financieel niks kunnen, vragen wij jullie dit bericht te delen zodat wij dit bedrag bij elkaar kunnen krijgen om dit in gang te kunnen zetten.

Dear Family and Friends,

Our dear grandfather, father and husband left for Istanbul Turkey in September 2021.

Due to circumstances, his weekend away from home turned into months.

Nezaar was treated by a cardiologist and pulmonologist at the Erasmus MC hospital in Rotterdam the Netherlands

A number of major investigations were planned in October 2021, unfortunately life has turned out differently than planned.

Nezaar spent months in and out of the hospital, there was no way he could go home.

And due to the corona circumstances, the family was unable to assist him, there was good (video) call contact with Nezaar 24/7.

Eventually Nezaar's body gave up because of fatigue.

He collapsed on January 11, 2022 and was so serious that he had to be resuscitated at his residence in Turkey.

He was transported by ambulance to the university medical hospital in Istanbul.

Here it was found that Nezaar's lungs were so damaged that it was not possible for him to breathe on his own, so he was put into ventilation to make it easier for his body.

We have now traveled to Turkey as children, because it could mean the last goodbye for us.

Fortunately, at that moment his heart was stable, and because we had no options and were not aware of what the options were, we traveled back to the Netherlands.

A week after their return, the doctors in Turkey contacted that one of the children had to come back to sign papers for an operation so that a Tracheostomy could be placed.

For this, too, his daughter traveled back to Turkey to make things right.

But now two weeks later, this operation has not yet taken place because his lungs are so damaged that it is not possible to operate.

After obtaining information everywhere, Nezaar turns out not to be insured through the health insurance fund for repatriation.

This also turns out to be a complicated matter via travel insurance, because when Nezaar traveled to Turkey, the travel advice was orange, so that the medical costs could be covered, but the repatriation was not.

After contacting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we found out that a request for repatriation can be made but that they will not bear the costs.

We have contacted several repatriation companies.

To be able to give Nezaar medically transported in an artificial coma with scheduled transport from Istanbul to Rotterdam.
