Our dear friend Bertn suffered a serious fall from his motorcycle on Sunday, September 14; what began as a relaxing and carefree day tragically turned into a nightmare, since although he was not traveling at high speed, a series of unfortunate circumstances caused him to be thrown from his bike and to land in a very severe manner.

The consequences are grave: Bertn sustained a serious concussion, and ever since that day he has been disoriented, struggling with memory loss and an inability to retain new information; he sleeps almost the entire day, with only a few short lucid moments, and while the sleeping is fortunately important for his healing process, it nevertheless shows how great the strain on his brain really is.

His partner Nikita has been caring for him with endless love and devotion; however, balancing this intensive care with her work has become overwhelmingly difficult, and since Bertn, due to his balance and coordination issues, cannot be left on his own, it is crucial that someone remains by his side, which is why with this campaign we hope to give Nikita the opportunity to stay home more often so that she can provide the support Bertn so desperately needs.

Even the simplest tasks have now become significant challenges for him; every action requires enormous amounts of energy, and the road to recovery will be long and demanding.

With your help, we can make sure that Bertn and Nikita do not have to carry the heavy burden of financial stress on top of everything else; instead, they will be able to focus entirely on his recovery, step by step, with hope and without the constant worry of how to manage all the costs. Every contribution, whether large or small, will make a difference; even sharing this campaign with others will have an impact.

Onze vriend Bertn heeft op zondag 14 september een zware val gemaakt met zijn motorfiets.

Wat begon als een ontspannende dag, eindigde in een nachtmerrie. Hoewel hij niet aan hoge snelheid reed, zorgde een ongelukkige samenloop van omstandigheden ervoor dat hij van zijn motor werd geslingerd en zwaar terechtkwam.

Het gevolg is ernstig: Bertn liep een zware hersenschudding op. Sindsdien is hij erg verward, heeft hij geheugenverlies en moeite om nieuwe informatie vast te houden. Hij slaapt bijna de hele dag door, met slechts enkele korte, heldere momenten. Dat slapen is gelukkig nodig voor zijn herstel, maar maakt ook duidelijk hoe zwaar dit voor zijn hersenen is.

Zijn vrouwtje Nikita zorgt met heel veel liefde voor hem. Toch is het combineren van die zorg met werk ontzettend zwaar. Gezien Bertn door zijn evenwichts- en coördinatieproblemen niet alleen kan zijn, is het belangrijk dat er iemand bij hem blijft. Met deze actie willen we ervoor zorgen dat Nikita wat meer thuis kan zijn om Bertn de steun te geven die hij zo hard nodig heeft.

Zelfs de meest eenvoudige taken zijn voor Bertn momenteel een uitdaging. Alles kost hem enorm veel energie en zijn herstel zal nog een tijdje aanslepen.
