Oneida, our beloved ornate box turtle, has been an educational ambassador at Nahant Marsh Education Center for many years. She helps thousands of visitors, including children, families, and nature enthusiasts, learn about Iowa’s native wildlife and the importance of conservation. Her gentle presence and engaging personality make her a favorite among students and staff alike.

Recently, Oneida became egg-bound, a serious and potentially life-threatening condition that requires immediate veterinary care. She has already undergone diagnostic exams, and additional treatment and monitoring are urgently needed to ensure she recovers safely.

As a nonprofit organization, unexpected medical expenses like these can be challenging. We are seeking support from our community to help cover Oneida’s veterinary bills so she can return to doing what she does best: educating, inspiring, and connecting people with nature.
