Help Omri live through cancer

Donation protected
As an RN in an ICU unit, Omri Epp helps people through their medical crises. Now he's the one with the medical crisis and he needs our help. Omri's work at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange California was interrupted in July of 2020 when he was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer normally seen in children called Ewing’s sarcoma. A tumor on his spine was paralyzing him and threatening to block an aorta of his heart. Omri had insurance through his employer, but from the beginning the insurance company made several negligent errors which delayed and interrupted treatment during a crucial stage of tumor growth. He eventually had surgery to remove a small part of the tumor but cutting into it likely led to another tumor on his skull. He has been enduring chemotherapy from August 2020 to the present to shrink these tumors to a point where they can be completely removed. We are at that point now. Unfortunately, his insurance dropped him early 2021 and he has been scrambling to obtain continuing treatment through MediCal (California's version of Medicaid). He was initiall told he requires surgery by specialists in Texas who are experts in this type of cancer.  That is when this gofundme was started. However, much has happened since that time. He was transferred to a doctor who has more experience with Ewing's sarcomas and more familiarity with surgeons in the Southern California area. In February (2022) a very experienced surgeon from USC Norris volunteered to make an attempt to successfully remove the main tumor in his chest. This was great news as MediCal will likely cover most of the cost. There are still many unknowns as this is a preliminary plan and the exact date and cost of the surgery is not known. We are continuing with this gofundme fundraiser, however, to assist Omri with the out-of-pocket expense of cancer treatment and costs associated with being unable to work and limited in functioning.  Since treatment began, the overall cost has been around $2500 to $3000/month. If you had initially donated to Omri believing it would go to the cost of surgery in Texas rather than for the associated costs of a disabling cancer and cancer treatment, and you would like a refund of your donation, please contact [email redacted] and your donation will be returned. Please provide the date and amount of the donation and I can contact gofundme to refund you--no questions asked. Thank you.
