Helping Omi!
Those who know her understand how special she is. Barbara Gerami is a proud Veteran, former Nurse, Mother, and spectacular Omi (Grandma) to many. She is currently in the hospital, just out of ICU, after fighting an extremely hard battle with COVID-19. She is a caregiver to some of my medically fragile adult siblings, whom she adopted after being their single foster parent originally. It is her drive to care for others that placed her in a position that she quickly lost sight of her own health and wellbeing. By the time she entered the hospital, the Doctors were very unsure if she would survive, and if she did, they were not sure what her recovery would look like. They very specifically told me, that had she taken any longer to get emergency medical care she would be dead.
Barbara's recovery is still not completely clear, but we do know it is going to be a difficult road to say the least. Though we are much more concerned with her physically and emotionally, it takes more than those things to address her situation and that of the family. Her bills are stacking up quick and the fact that her children (who medically fragile adults) that live with her are in need of constant care, we must figure out how to make sure life continues on.
We are not fully sure what the cost of what is needed, but at this point we need all the help we can get.
I would not only like to thank those who are willing to help, I would also like to recognize all those who have already helped so much during this very real and scary time. It is a task trying to figure things out while everyone in her household is under quarantine. Even one of my brothers (Donny) ended up in the hospital because of COVID-19 and having Pneumonia while she has been in the hospital. He is recovering nicely, and thankfully it did not get as bad for him as it did for her. We are blessed for the friends and family that have dropped off supplies to the house during everyone’s quarantine and for all the prayers during this tumultuous time
