Greetings!

 

My name is Deniz.

 

I am grateful to be a friend to Burju and Matt Sari and auntie to their amazing 12 years old twin boys Omer and Demir. Omer and Demir were born nine weeks premature. Both babies were held in NICU 6 weeks. When Burju and Matt arrived at NICU, the Neurology team was waiting for them. They were struck with the reality. Omer had a brain injury called Cystic periventricular leukomalacia is the most severe and frequent cause of cerebral palsy. He has been bound to wheelchair since and has a cortical visual impairment.

 

Omer is one of the most loving hearts I have ever known. He is funny, intelligent, kind, social and resilient.

As Omer grows to be a teenager, his needs escalate. The family has a minivan that helps them transport Omer to/from school and other activities. However, it has been getting extremely challenging for Burju and Matt to get him in and out of their current minivan safely to go to places. He is getting heavy, and it is almost impossible to lift him from his wheelchair to the seat in the car and adjust his position in the car even with two parents. Therefore, Omer needs to stay at home with one of his parents most of the time.

Omer is a social butterfly. He wants to explore places, meet with his friends freely, goes to grocery shopping with his mom. In addition, Omer will have a significant bone surgery on his feet and legs. It will be extremely difficult to transport Omer in his current minivan

 

We can help him by giving him INDEPENDENCY with wheelchair accessible minivan. We can make him MOVE FREELY!

 

There is a solution to give him INDEPENDENCY: Wheelchair Accessible MiniVan.

There are very few vans that can be modified. So, parents have to buy a new minivan with the modifications. They have to pay for the new minivan and modifications. The total cost is around $90000. This cost adds a significant burden to their financials. We will use the contributions from this fundraising towards the cost of his new modified

MiniVan.

I genuinely believe we have a great community that can help Omer to get closer to move around freely.
