My name is Omar, and my homeless friend is breaking my heart. I can’t stop thinking about him, especially now—it’s after midnight, and heavy rain is pouring upon his only half-shelter: his damaged car, which has no windows. Everyone refuses to let him in for a shower. Even though I bought him clothing and other self-care products, they tell him, “Go away, you stink.”
I wake up every day afraid that he will die in his car. He has been living in it for almost three years, with each winter leaving a mark on his aging body and broken soul. He is not a product of drugs or gambling, and that’s why I want to help him. He has never smoked a cigarette, never even had alcohol—he’s as innocent as can be. He is a product of betrayal and malice.
My aim is to buy him a big car to sleep in and a one-year gym membership for showering and bathroom.
The car would be a van or mini van where the seats could be flipped and a mattress placed.
FYI, his legs are becoming black from sleeping while seated drawing the blood towards his feet, he needs to raise his legs for days to return to normal, I just wanted him to see that there are still hope in humanity before he dies, he is in his seventies and he is overweight.
Thank you
