My uncle, Omar Zavala, has been detained by ICE for over a month. Recently, a judge granted his release under a $30,000 bond. That would give him a chance for him to come home while his case continues. But we need help to make that possible.
Omar is a father, husband, brother, uncle, and friend. To our family, he has always been the person who shows up. No matter what. When I was growing up in Juarez, Mexico with my mom and four brothers, Omar made sure we had what we needed. He worked hard and always put family first.
Years later, he moved to Midland with a visa and permit, but eventually overstayed his permit. When my mom received her residency and moved to the U.S., Omar used his entire savings to help her get started here. That’s who he is. He gives everything he can for the people he loves.
Even from afar, he continued supporting our family in Mexico. He built a home for my aunt in Juarez so she and her daughter, who has ALS, wouldn’t have to struggle to pay rent. Omar has always believed in helping others, even if it meant starting over himself.
When he was detained, he had only $100 to his name. He gave everything he had to others, and now, he needs us.
This bond is our opportunity to bring him home to safety, to family, to hope. If we cannot raise the full amount, all funds will go toward helping him rebuild his life in Mexico, where he would be starting from zero.
If you can donate, share, or pray for our family, we are deeply grateful. Every little bit means the world. Thank you for helping us fight to bring Omar back to the people who love him.
