Help Omar Stay in the USA: Legal Fund
Donation protected
Dear friends, this is my friend Omar. I have been mentoring him for almost 2 years. He lives in New York and is from Venezuela. He is an honest, hardworking, and charming young man. He has a steady full time job at a restaurant in Manhattan, pays his taxes, and is trying to live his American dream. Over the past 2 years, we have enrolled him in health care, found a steady place for him to live with his cousin Kiara, and he hopes to start studying at LaGuardia College in March.
Due to the current administration, Omar's Temporary Protective Status (TPS), which the prior administration had extended to October 2026, has been revoked. Omar's current status expires on April 5, 2025, at which point he will have no protections from being deported. He has a pathway to asylum due to the political climate in Venezuela. He left Venezuela to pursue a way to provide for his family. Returning to Venezuela is not an option, as he would most certainly be jailed by the oppresive dicatorship.
This fundraiser is for hiring and retaining an immigration attorney to restore his legal status here in the USA, to renew his work permit so he can continue to be a contributing member of our society, and to have the proper documentation to avoid deportation.
Please help Omar if you can. It is very important to him and to those of us who have met him and believe in him. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
