Omar needs your help!

Hi, my name's Steph and I'm a writer/editor based in Glasgow. I need your help to get my friend Omar Al-Tri urgent medical treatment for his injuries and safe passage from Gaza. You can see from the pictures that Omar is in a critical condition and it is crucial he gets the help he needs as soon as possible.

I first became friends with Omar through my friend Haneen. I have been helping her family to raise funds to evacuate from Gaza. Omar is Haneen's best friend and despite her having her own Go Fund Me, she asked if I could set one up for him (truly a testament to the love and care that she and her people have for each other).

Omar is 19 years old. In Haneen's words:

"He has had a beautiful life and is full of dreams of success. He always wanted to provide for his family, but was deprived of university studies once this began."

He lived in the North of Gaza with his mother, father and sister. In May, his family home was destroyed whilst they were still inside. Despite sustaining injuries, they survived and were displaced to the South of Gaza. Last month, Omar's mother sadly passed away from cancer, due to lack of treatment.

Whilst trying to cope with this indescribable loss, Omar has suffered further serious injuries. He has internal bleeding, and whilst he has a limited supply of painkillers, he is in desperate need of surgery which he cannot receive from within Gaza.

That's where you come in! Omar needs $15000 (roughly £12000 depending on the exchange rate). This will cover the minimum $5000 for evacuation across the border to Egypt and to cover the costs of his medical treatments. We have the chance to not only save Omar's life but to give him the same opportunities that we all deserve - a life filled with family, love and happiness.

Anything and everything that you can contribute will make such a difference. At the end of the day, this is a humanitarian crisis. If you're able to donate £1, £5, £1000, you're taking a step towards making the world a better place.
