My name is Layla Kaylif, and I’m a London-based singer songwriter and filmmaker. I’m reaching out on behalf of my dear friend, Omar Salah Al Ghalban, who is currently in Egypt after escaping the devastating war in Gaza. Omar and I have been friends for over a year, and I’ve supported him before in times of need. Omar’s family remains trapped in Gaza under dire conditions. His father lost his leg in a bombing, his sister recently underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor, and his mother suffers from severe heart palpitations due to the stress of their situation. They are a family of nine, and their struggles are unimaginable.

Before the war, Omar worked as a poultry farmer and was able to provide for his family. But the war destroyed their home, his livelihood, and their sense of security. Now, Omar is in Egypt, unable to work, while the cost of living in Gaza has skyrocketed, leaving his family struggling to afford even basic necessities like food, water, and medical supplies.

How the funds will be spent:

Medical supplies for Omar’s father’s post-amputation care, including ointments, bandages, disinfectants, and wraps for his leg.

Ongoing treatment for his sister’s recovery, as her surgical wounds still need proper care.

Basic necessities like food, clean water, and gas for cooking in Gaza.

Support for Omar in Egypt, helping him survive while he finds ways to assist his family further.
