This is an emergency fundraiser for my friend Omar Al-Sharif who lives in the Nuseirat Refugee Camp in Central Gaza.

Hello! My name is Mari, and I'm based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. I currently run several GoFundMe and Chuffed campaigns for individuals and families from Gaza. I'm raising money for my friend, Omar Al-Sharif, a 28-year-old young man who is located in the Nuseirat Refugee Camp in Gaza. Omar has pursued a master's degree in Physical Education during war through e-learning, despite the daily challenges of surviving a brutal war. He is one of the most upstanding and selfless human beings I have ever met, never hesitating to rush to the scene of a bombing to volunteer to retrieve martyrs and wounded from the rubble. Omar also regularly spent significant time distributing food and water within displacement camps. Please read on and consider supporting Omar's campaign.

From Omar, in his own words:

My name is Omar Al-Sharif and I am 28 years old. I have a fiancée from Palestine, from Gaza City. I have lost many friends and relatives, including my brother who was martyred at the beginning of the war. My neighbor's house was targeted by two missiles and there was damage to my house. I made temporary repairs.

I have been volunteering since the beginning of the war to rescue the injured and retrieve the martyrs from bombed houses. I also worked as a volunteer helping poor families distribute food and drinks to the tents. Since 2022, I have had two herniated discs in my back, and sometimes I suffer from severe back pain. I am now collecting money for myself in order to rebuild my future. I am waiting for the war to end and for stability and security to prevail in my country so that I can marry my fiancée.

I have known Omar for almost nine months, having met him through Instagram where he has a significant following and regularly posts about events in Gaza and Nuseirat, where he lives. I have watched helplessly as Omar's brother was martyred along with countless friends and family members, and his house was severely damaged. With your support, it may be possible for Omar to buy land in a safer place and build a new home there for himself and his fiancée.

Omar has recently gotten engaged to a young woman who is also from Nuseirat Camp in Gaza. They hope to be able to get married once the war ends, but in order to do so, Omar needs your help to build a home to be able to provide a suitable living situation in order to fulfill the conditions of marriage. Omar has no intentions of leaving Gaza; rather, he intends to be a part of rebuilding his homeland and helping to make Gaza beautiful again.

I have set up a dedicated bank account for Omar, and all money collected will be held in this account until requested by him. Upon request, funds will be transferred to Omar via Western Union.
