Hello folks, my name is Basma Sharaf and I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. Like many of you, I feel the need to help those who have been stricken by the terrible war in Gaza. Omar Sameer is a 30 year old man who supports his elderly parents in Mawasi, Khan Younis. He, his parents, and three siblings had to flee Gaza when their home and their shop - their only source of income - got destroyed. As the main bread winner of his family, Omar is desperate to make ends meet. Food and shelter are an everyday struggle. I will pass on your donations to Omar through his PayPal account, and he will use the funds to rebuild his home and shop. I relay below his own words to you:
My name is Omar Sameer, and I’m a 30-year-old from Khan Younis, Gaza. I used to run a small cosmetics shop that I built with years of hard work. It was our only source of income and helped me care for my elderly parents, who suffer from chronic illnesses and need constant care.
But everything changed during the war.
On March 10, 2024, my shop was completely destroyed. Soon after, our home was also reduced to rubble. We lost everything—our shelter, our belongings, and the life we had built. We fled to Al-Mawasi, with no place to stay, no beds, and no protection from the freezing winter.
I never imagined I would have to leave behind my business, my memories, and my home. But the bombing was relentless, and survival became our only goal.
Now, I’m trying to start over.
I have the will, the experience, and the determination to rebuild my shop and support my family again—but I can’t do it alone. I’m asking for your help to raise funds to restart my small business and provide for my parents.
Even a small donation can make a big difference.
I believe that kindness still exists, and that together, we can rebuild what was lost.
Please consider supporting me.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
