Hello everyone,
I would like to introduce you to my friend and language exchange partner Omar Sebah who is currently living in Gaza, Occupied Palestine.
This is Omar's message to you all, in his own words:
"My name is Omar, and I’m a 19-year-old from Gaza. My home has been destroyed, my laptop (my only tool for studying) is gone, and much of what I dreamed of has shattered in an instant.
I’m studying Computer Systems Engineering — I have big dreams and talent, but right now, my future feels uncertain. I’ve lost friends, family memories, and stability. Because of the war, my father’s salary stopped, and we no longer have a steady source of income.
I’ve never asked for help like this before. But now, I need your support.
What I need help with:
- Replacing my laptop so I can continue my studies and work toward my dream
- Supporting me and my 15-person family's basic needs (food, supplies) while I try to rebuild my life
Every donation — no matter how small — means the world to me. Your help will allow me to keep studying, keep dreaming, and build a future beyond these ruins.
Please, share my story and give what you can. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."
Below are some photos of Omar's destroyed home.
Omar has managed to survive this genocide so far. However, his three year old niece did not share the same fate. She was martyred on October 28th, 2023. He also has lost countless other friends and family.
Omar is an intelligent, determined young man seeking a better life through his studies and technical skills. He is even learning English to enhance any opportunities he could get in the future. With $6,000, Omar can purchase food, toiletries, and other supplies that have skyrocketed in price during the war.
If you can spare him $5, $10, or $50, please do. Help me help him realize the future that he deserves.
As always, Free Palestine.
For full transparency, the funds will be sent to Omar via Western Union. I will post updates as the funds are sent to him over time.
EDIT: The situation has become more dire since I first posted this fundraiser. My original intention was to raise funds for Omar to get equipment for work opportunities during the ceasefire, but that has since ended. Even as ceasefires are allegedly established, the occupying forces continue to violate these agreements. He is not safe and we need to help him.
