Hello my name is Omar Karin Cossio Novela. I have been in the United States since 2005 when I was 9 years old. I was diagnosed with chronic kidney failure the last week of January 2022. I am undocumented, and therefore I cannot get health insurance if any sort and paying out of pocket for my dialysis treatments is simply not realistic for my family and me.

I have been hospitalized since Wednesday January 26th in Tacoma. During the time I’ve been here I have been given dialysis every other day. It is a 3-4hr long draining procedure that is saving my life. I haven’t been able to be outdoors during my stay, and miss all my friends. Due to Covid the hospital only allows one visitor per day making my experience very lonely. The hospital told me that they wouldn’t be able to discharge me until I had dialysis appointment lined up, and things started to get even more complicated. 

 

Fortunately, my family and friends were able to find a clinic in Whichita, Kansas willing to sponsor my dialysis treatments at no cost, and I must now move last minute to Kansas.

 

Im fundraising to move to Kansas, where I would be able to receive the needed care. I need financial help to find an apartment, bills, and anything that might come up as I settle in a new city. It is a dire situation and it is something I have to do in order to continue to live.
