Help Omar and Perla Rebuild Their Lives

My name is Beverly Barnett and I am raising funds for a couple that is very dear to me. Perla Perez is my daughter's massage therapist who helps her with mobility. Perla is like a member of our family. The photo you see is her husband, Omar Delgado. They are a young couple who have been married for just a few years.

On February 17 of this year, while Omar (30) was at home by himself, he suffered an Aortic Dissection and Ischemic Stroke; specifically, his aorta ripped open which caused havoc in his body. Miraculously, he was able to phone his brother who lived close by before he passed out; otherwise, Omar would not be with us today.

Omar has had two major surgeries to repair the damage, plus invasive tests to check his progress. He has completed cardiac therapy to strengthen his heart and physical therapy to help him walk better and will begin PAD therapy soon. During his recovery, he has been in the hospital twice with pneumonia and a third time to rid his body of excess fluid around his heart and lungs. Due to chronic pain in his leg and feet, Omar's doctors suspect he also suffered a spinal stroke. There's no firm prognosis, just one day at a time. His journey back has been a difficult one.

In addition to this calamity, Omar's family found out this September that his father has stage 4 lung cancer. And to make matters worse, Omar and Perla discovered mold bloom inside their newly renovated home...the absolute last thing they need. They cannot afford to pay for the work to be done that they desperately need to live in a safe home. They need a fan in their attic and have been quoted $4000.

Omar cannot work. Workman's Comp is not an option at this time and they are applying for disability, but the process is long and hard when you are dealing with so much. They are down to one income, and in the last seven months, a mountain of medical bills has piled up along with the usual bills. The situation is very stressful.
