Help Omar and His Wife Vanessa in Their Cancer Battle
Donation protected
Hello Everyone-
This is Bill Woods here helping my best friend Omar ( Jason Omer ) raise funds for him and his wife's life expenses because Cancer changed all our worlds. They could use a hand as its been a hard path since we did this last time. Thank you!
Since the last fundraising, a lot has happened.
I met Omar in Durango, Colorado nearly 30 years ago. He met Vanessa there around the same time, and they began dating while in Durango. They married in 2002 in Bellingham. Jason & I have been best friends the entire time. Trying to stay close enough to race together (mountain bikes, motorcycles, cars and trucks.......you name it, we raced it or would have) . Now we are older and have a new race against time and Cancer. We did a go fund me last year for Omar and it was a HUGE help and got him this far. THANK YOU ALL for helping him then. After the first round of treatment we received word that it looked like he was in the clear. Then came the news 3 months later the he isn't in the clear. The cancer came back and it has spread. It has been inspiring to see Omar lead the way following the treatment to a T and never giving up or letting his friends and family see him waver. Watching the love and support from Vanessa every step of the way has made her supernatural to me! Strongest of angels!
We recently went to the Salt Flats for the Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials and Omar managed to set his own personal best fastest time on his bike, Nosferatu, that we brought back from a 10 year hiatus. It was a huge effort from many of his friends and wife who supported this effort and the team really pulled together. I'm sure everyone can appreciate how monumental and important it was to attend and race this year. Four successful passes is what Omar's body could offer and he took full advantage of everything he could to make it happen. 165mph was a stellar pass for that bike and all the passes were over 160mph. Nice work Bro!
Since we last updated everyone, Omar has received both chemo and radiation therapies, trying to dial it in for the most effectiveness the medical team can conjure. The treatment has become more intense and Omar has had to resign from his position at Security Solutions. They have been supportive and helpful far beyond the requirements and I can say their business is nothing less than Top Notch. Thank you Security Solutions for treating Omar as family.
Jason and Vanessa's network of family and friends have been very supportive. Jason's mother Judith and father Lee, Jason's twin brother Chad, and Vanessa's mom Tanis, just to name a few. Both Jason and Vanessa's extended families have been very supportive as well.
As the number of treatments he receives and the intensity of treatments grows, it's very hard on his body and he cannot continue to do it all.
Being in limbo, between unemployment & disability starting, has caused strain on their finances, and is causing some financial stress and hopefully we can work together to help Jason and Vanessa through this difficult time.
Last time we raised over $10,000 to help Omar and it made a huge impact in getting him this far. Between treatment and medical costs as well as insurance and policies there is also the strain of fuel and cost of living having gone up pretty significantly. Jason and Vanessa need this help and I am asking for them. Please help if you can.
