Friends and family from far and wide, we're asking for some help to get Olly on their path to HRT and a (future) family.
In order to start HRT, if Olly wants to have biological children, they have to freeze their eggs. This process cannot be done on HRT. The unfortunate fact is fertility care in the US starts at 20k per round, but we found amazing and reliable facilities in Spain that are much much cheaper!
The idea is to have Olly there for the month of May, and 2 weeks in August, to get 3 rounds of egg freezing done - then returning home to start HRT.
Olly almost started HRT a year ago but quickly realized they needed to take this step first, for the future of their family. HRT is something they have been putting off for over a decade, due to financial and medical restrictions, immigration issues (lack of stability and healthcare), etc. It has gotten to a breaking point where their quality of life and mental wellbeing is rapidly deteriorating.
So now we're trying to make it happen ASAP without sacrificing their dream of having at least one biological child !
Heres the nitty gritty:
- Process will be happening in Barcelona, Spain
- Looking to begin first cycle end of April
- Average cycle takes 2w from first doctors apt to the retrieval
- For this process to be worth it, viable and to get *what we need from it* - due to their AMH levels - Olly will need 2 cycles at minimum, aiming for 3.
- The price is approx $3200 per cycle
- Those costs include price of labs, bloodwork, hormones, anesthesia, retrieval procedure + storage for one year.
Meanwhile prices in the US for ONE ROUND are as follows:
- Clinic/Lab Fees: $7,000 - $12,000+ (includes consultation, monitoring, retrieval, lab processing)
- Medications: $3,000 - $6,000+ (hormone injections)
- Anesthesia: $500 - $1,400 (often separate)
- Storage: $500 - $1,000 per year (first year sometimes included)
Other costs to consider are:
- 6 weeks food & accom in Barca - $2000
- Rent, car & bills coverage in the states while not working - $3500
We don’t expect to be able to raise it all but just laying out the costs for transparency!
