Help Ollie's Fight Against Leukemia
Donation protected
Without warning, two weeks ago, my sister Kerryn and her husband Paul received the devastating news that their three-year old son, Ollie, has acute myeloid leukemia. Ollie was rushed to Sydney Children’s Hospital and will remain there for an extended period while he undergoes continual and life-saving treatment. Our aim is to fund accommodation and living/medical expenses for the duration of Ollie’s treatment.
Ollie’s Diagnosis
Up until 2 weeks ago, Ollie was a happy, bubbly, healthy little boy with a zest for life. After an unusually quiet day, he appeared lethargic and red spots and swelling of his stomach became apparent. Following a consultation with their local doctor, Ollie was rushed from Wollongong to the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick where he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). He spent time in ICU as he started treatment. Acute myeloid leukemia is a form of cancer of the blood and bone marrow with excess immature blood cells. AML progresses rapidly when myeloid cells interfere with the production of normal white cells, red cells, and platelets.
It is crucial that they have accommodation within proximity of the SCH. Covid 19 restrictions add extraordinary pressure on how the family manage their availability for Ollie while also caring for their beautiful five-week old, Violet. They have moved into a unit in Randwick where they will stay for the duration of Ollie’s treatments. This aggressive cancer requires an intense regimen of chemotherapy along with other interventions.
The family and friends of the Peres family are prepared to do all they can during this time of unprecedented need. This page has been set up to assist with Ollie’s ongoing medical costs and the family’s relocation/living expenses.
