Hi, I’m Josie, and I’ve had the privilege of being Ollie’s mum for the past eight years. Ollie is my 13‑year‑old boxer mix and my constant companion through some of the hardest moments of my life. He’s not just a pet — he’s my comfort, my routine, and my family.
For the past several months, Ollie has had a cyst on his tail that needed to be drained regularly. At a consult on March 6, the surgeon at Bridgeway Vet confirmed it wasn’t bothering him, so continuing monthly draining was a safe option.
That changed on April 25. After his routine draining, the cyst suddenly filled back up to the size of a baseball within hours and began actively weeping. The vet now recommends removing the cyst entirely, which requires tail amputation so the wound can be properly closed and healed.
His surgery is scheduled for May 12, 2026.
Why I’m asking for help:
- The surgery estimate is between $6,824.24 and $7,326.97, which I can’t manage on my own.
- I’ve included the full vet estimate in the photos section for transparency.
- I’ve also added a photo of the cyst so you can understand the urgency.
- After GoFundMe’s fees, every dollar I receive goes to Ollie’s care.
Despite his age, Ollie still has a wonderful quality of life. He loves our walks, keeps pace beside me, and is still his sweet, engaged self. Anyone who meets him can see he still enjoys life and isn’t ready to slow down.
Asking for help is hard, but Ollie means everything to me, and I want to give him the care he needs.
Any contribution — even a small one — would mean the world to us. If you’re not able to donate, sharing his story helps more than you know.
Thank you for reading and for helping me give my best friend the care he deserves.
