Help Ollie bite cancer
I never thought I would ever come to the day of writing a go fund me, specifically for Ollie. I never thought I would hear the words, "Ollie has multicentric lymphoma". My world came crashing down when I heard this over the phone this past Tuesday evening . Ollie is my best-friend, actually, Ollie is everyone's best-friend. Jesse (my fiance) said the other day, "Ollie made me love dogs", because Jesse once was a non dog-person. So how did this amazing soon to be 4 year old Golden Retriever, who has such happiness in his step and the goofiest personality I've ever seen in a dog end up with a life threatening illness? From all the research I've done, hereditary? Unknown? Chemicals from the earth? All I know is it's not fair, not fair for a dog who loves everyone and everything he comes into contact with. Who spreads happiness wherever he trots to.
Back in April, Ollie was not himself. His ears were hanging low, body was slouching, and he would hide from me any time I would want to give him a hug or talk to him. I did not like this, I knew something was wrong. I brought him to the vet on a Sunday and had several tests done. The tests were inconclusive but the vet told me that he had swollen lymph nodes and it could be due to an infection. So, Ollie went home with medication. The following week he barely ate. This was breaking my heart. But, as time went on he started eating again. He was becoming himself again, ugh my heart was so full. But, a month went by and I noticed that his lymph nodes were slightly big again. I was concerned but decided to wait it out to see if they would go down. June was approaching and the lymph nodes were getting bigger in his neck. I was beginning to become stressed out because I already paid $500 for the appointment in April and I knew if I took him in it would be another expensive appointment and I did not have the money. I hated the fact that I could not afford to help Ollie, it was breaking my heart all over again. To my rescue, my mom stepped in and helped me with this appointment. However, I wish this appointment went a different direction.
The vet went through a physical examination and she found the lymph nodes right away along with swollen lymph nodes behind his knees. I asked her what the common cause of this is and she told me that she is fearful of lymphoma. My heart sank so hard I felt like I was going to throw up. She told me that she needed to aspirate them and send them off to the lab. Throughout the aspirations I was choking back tears so hard. I hated seeing them prob Ollie several times for samples but he was being so good about it. He was smiling and loving everyone around him.
I hated waiting for this phone call and when it finally came my stomach did a 180. Then I heard her say it, the samples came back positive for multicentric lymphoma. The vet explained that the best treatment protocol for lymphoma is chemotherapy. I did hours and hours of research on it and joined about 10 different Facebook groups relating to this situation. I received a lot of advice on different alternatives and found that a lot of dog owners had success stories with chemotherapy. I am choosing chemotherapy along with a holistic nutritious diet and possibly the addition of CBD oil for Ollie. The treatment is very expensive and will be done over a course of close to 6 months.
The goal for Ollie is to maintain a happy, healthy life. All I want is for him to be happy. If this gives him a year, two years or even 5 years more of happy memories with all his friends, allowing him to go for long walks, swim in lakes, eat treats, steal all the socks, get belly rubs, sit on peoples feet, meet new people and dogs, then we are all in.
These funds will go straight to Ollie's treatment and care. This will help Ollie fight for more time on this Earth. He is too young to cross over the rainbow bridge, he wants more time, we all want more time with him. He and everyone who loves him appreciate any donation you are willing to give.
Help Ollie bite cancer hard in the ass.
