Help Olivia's Journey to Recovery
Donation protected
Olivia came into our lives in a special way. She has been a light and a comfort to both of us, and she has loved living with her roommates, Devin and Mary.
Recently, Olivia fell ill unexpectedly and we were surprised at how serious her condition became within just a few days. It began as her not eating the food we gave her, but we thought it was because we had switched her dry food too abruptly. When Olivia started even refusing to eat some of her favorite wet food flavors, we began to really worry.
Olivia visited the vet on a Tuesday and she was cleared to return home, but to bring her back if her condition worsened. Well, it did. Olivia was vomiting daily, even when it was clear she had not eaten anything, and other signs indicated a real concern.
We took her back on the following Friday, and in just those 3 days, she had lost about a half pound of weight. The vet did blood tests and an X-ray, and referred us to a specialty emergency animal hospital. Olivia returned Saturday morning for further testing. Later that day, she was admitted and transferred to internal care and another round of testing was ordered. Olivia remains in Hospital through Sunday, now with a feeding tube.
So far, possibilities for her illness have ranged from Lymphoma to pancreatitis to Inflammatory Bowel Disease to possible fungal infection or something else. Test results are pending. The visits, examinations, tests, and other care have become an enormous cost, and we're putting everything on credit. The mounting costs and eventual interest rates are going to be a hardship for possibly years. We hope that any assistance can help to ease the stress and fear of how to overcome this financial obstacle while also being able to provide the love and care for our precious Olivia, as in a best-case scenario, she is facing a lengthy journey back to healthiness.
