My name is McKenna and I created this GoFundMe to help my little sister, Olivia, in the wake of the Kona Low Storm. At 1:00am on March 20th, Olivia woke up to find her entire home covered in a foot of water. Within just a few short hours, it had risen to chest height.

She, her roommates, and her boyfriend were stranded in their laundry room, standing on top of the washer and dryer to stay above the water while they waited to be rescued. I’m incredibly grateful to say that a group of men eventually came by on surfboards and got them out safely.

Like so many others on Oahu’s North Shore, Olivia lost everything. Her car is completely submerged and totaled, and nearly all of her belongings were destroyed. Right now, she has only a few items of clothing that a friend was able to lend her.

Both of her workplaces are also underwater, currently leaving her without a source of income as she tries to figure out how to replace everything.

I started this GoFundMe to help ease the weight of everything she’s facing as she navigates the devastating destruction alongside her community. We all remember what it’s like to be in our early 20’s, living paycheck to paycheck. Now imagine facing something like this on top of it. It’s unimaginable.
