Help Olivia Build Her Dream She Shed
Donation protected
On June 25th, 18 year old Olivia Falzone returned home after a 40 day stay at Boston Children's Hospital where she had chemotherapy and total body irradiation followed by a stem cell transplant. Liv has been bravely and fiercely battling ALL Leukemia since 2021, and her relapse in February was unexpected and crushing.
While it is wonderful to be back home, Liv's post-transplant life is by no means "back to normal." She is under strict quarantine rules for months and will not be able to return to school in-person for the start of her senior year. No one is allowed inside her home aside from her parents and siblings. She cannot go out in public. Liv's body is building a whole new immune system and she cannot chance any infections. She even needs to keep distance from her pet cat as an innocent scratch could be dangerous.
Liv is a social butterfly who loves spending time with her friends and extended family. While she's been able to do a few backyard visits with masks and distancing, this will be hard to sustain as the seasons change. Her dream is to have a "She Shed" in her backyard which would be outfitted with the proper ventilation to provide an outdoor hangout area for Liv.
Planning for and designing the She Shed has been a great diversion for Liv while she faces daily fatigue, loss of appetite, administration of meds, as well as several doctor's appointments each week. She pictures the She Shed as a fun place to do her school work remotely and an inspiring spot for her artwork. On days when the weather allows for it to be opened up she can host friends in there and gain some normalcy which has been greatly missed this summer, and throughout the past two years.
Estimates for the She Shed are coming in, and as with any construction project, costs are adding up to be more than expected as there is the building of the structure itself as well as needs for electricity and HVAC. Liv's family would love to have this project completed before the fall and I am fundraising to help make Liv's She Shed dream come true.
Please know that any donation, big or small, would be greatly appreciated. It's not the dollars that matter, it's the love being shown to this beautiful young woman and her family. Let's show them how when we join together we can make dreams come true.
