My name is Olivia Josephine, and I am a holistic community herbalist opening an apothecary (botanical/herb shop) in Puerto Viejo de Limón, on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica! I have studied and practiced herbal medicine since 2011 and I have worked in various herb shops and apothecaries (in Denver and Philadelphia) and had started my own small business making all kind of botanical self-care products and remedies. I fell in love with this land 10 years ago, and made the complete move in 2020. I work with a local herbalists collective called Salud Salvaje who will be a primary provider, and I will be collaborating with other herbalists and their small businesses to offer LOCAL plants and remedies... as well as likely bringing some in from my own lineage... in the true flavor of this town, it will include a little bit of traditions and influences from all over the world, but focused heavily on local traditions and cultures. And all the amazing gifts, art, and remedies that so many powerful women and men in this community create!

We will have a retail and consult space where we sell bulk herbs, spices, tinctures, tea blends, essences, essential oils, house-made botanical skin care (soaps, creams, serums, etc.) books, art, and other witchy and ritual supplies! We will also have a small bar to offer delicious botanical beverages and a comfy area to sit and drink them in community. Teas, elixirs, cordials, juices, local fruit-based ciders, herbal ice creams and more will all be on the menu! We will always have a trained herbalist on site to help make recommendations and custom blends. We will host workshops in the space on a regular basis, where anyone can come learn how to make remedies, blend perfumes, process plants, etc. AND WE WILL KEEP IT AFFORDABLE! Education, and connecting people to the local plants around them is a main mission.

We have found an AMAZING LOCATION! Thanks to the vision and generosity of a beautiful and bright woman, we have a spacious kitchen and seating area within meters of the ocean, right in the heart of town! Now, we have to build it up and get it ready to open in January. We need wood for shelves and to make the bar, furniture, some supplies to make the remedies and ciders in larger quantities, some funds for paperwork, a fridge, and a hundred other various little things to make the business fully operational and of high quality and service!
