I am raising funds on behalf of Olivia Severn to help cover medical expenses related to her progressive form of Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and it's comorbidities.
Olivia, aka the biggest swiftie in the world (since '06), is a 22 year old. She has two Associates degrees and, once she is stable again, wants to get a Bachelor's in Forensic Anthropology with a minor in Physics. She runs a multi-platform disability rights activism and chronic illness awareness blog on social media.
Olivia is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. She is kind, good natured, and incredibly silly. The love she has for others as an advocate really reflects the kind of person that she is. She’s a light in this world that shines so bright.
She began having issues related to hEDs at age 4, when she first started fainting and stopped breathing. She's been diagnosed with hEDs, a Thalamic Glioma (brain tumor), Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome, Gastroparesis, Degenerative Disc Disease, multiple forms of Dysautonomia, and quite a few more. Currently, at age 22, she is 100% tube fed, is a full-time wheelchair user who can't move to use her wheelchair, and is completely bed bound on palliative care. In just the last year, she's had six surgeries alone. Now her spine is having severe issues on top of the rest of her issues declining, she and her mother are fighting to be heard and seen. She have been dropped by numerous doctors as a patient claiming she is too complex of a patient for them and has battled numerous events of medical neglect and medical gaslighting. This has been one of the most challenging times of her and her familys' life, both physically and emotionally.
She just moved to a new state in hopes of better healthcare and is now struggling to get insurance coverage, SSI, and to cover copays. Unfortunately, the financial side of this journey has become overwhelming. Her family is extremely low income. She is running low on all medications and medical supplies and without Medicaid coverage, the bills are adding up quickly. Her private insurance covers very little, and they facing significant out-of-pocket costs.
Additionally, her family would love to be able to take her out of state to receive surgeries for her Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome and for her multiple spine issues. These surgeries could change her life and significantly improve her quality of life!
Your donation will go directly toward:
Medical bills (i.e. hospital, doctor visits, medications, medical supplies, etc)
Help with medical debt. (Currently stands at $2,000 + )
Traveling to see specialized providers (i.e. the surgeries states above, etc)
Help for the family (i.e. gas, groceries, rent, etc)
Every little bit helps and makes a real difference in my ability to focus on healing without the constant stress of financial strain.
If you are unable to donate, we completely understand. Sharing this fundraiser with others would mean so much.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support, kindness, and encouragement during this difficult time. I am deeply grateful to each of you who takes the time to read, donate, or share.
