Help Olivia (13yo) after traumatic ski accident
Olivia Benedetto is the 13 year old cousin of Matthew Benedetto, fellow union member and the daughter of former union member Nick Benedetto and current NYC Transit employee. On February 16, 2021 Olivia had a horrible ski accident in Pennsylvania. She was airlifted to Geisinger Hospital in Danville, PA, a trauma hospital, where she was diagnosed with T12-L1 fracture. She was admitted and had emergency spinal surgery. Olivia was transferred to a Blythedale Children’s Hospital, a pediatric inpatient physical therapy facility in Westchester County, NY where she is receiving intense inpatient physical therapy. She needs to learn how to adapt to her limitations so she can learn to do everyday activities independently. Her home needs to be changed to accommodate her handicap equipment before she can even be considered for discharged.
Olivia lives in Roxbury, New York. Olivia is in the 8th grade attending Scholars Academy in Queens where she has attained the accolades of being a member of the Honors’ Society and on the Principles’ List. Prior to the accident she was an active teenager and especially enjoyed doing gymnastics. Olivia has a long difficult journey to recovery.
Let’s assist the Benedetto Family during this time. The circumstances place a huge financial burden on Olivia and her family. Olivia will need costly physical therapy, rehabilitation, handicap equipment and wheelchair accessibility in her home.
