Oliver, our 16 year old son, has been selected to represent Great Britain at the World Underwater Hockey Championships in Turkey this July. It's a dream come true for him to represent his country in a sport he loves and he's super excited about the challenge ahead.

Oliver has played underwater hockey since he was 10 and plays with Skipton and Yorkshire teams. He's played in regional and national competitions, most recently captaining the Yorkshire Under 16 team to Gold at the UK Junior National Championships.

Underwater hockey is a fast paced, tactical team game which requires a high level of fitness and agility. Check out the short video of Oliver and the Skipton team in action below. Selection to the Great Britain Under 19 Men's team is testament to his self discipline, dedication, training, perseverance and hard work over the last four years. He follows a rigorous training programme, including swim, bike, run and strength training (up to 15 sessions per week) and regular intense GB weekend training camps. He joined Craven Energy, our local triathlon club, to compliment his fitness training and their support has been invaluable.

Great Britain's underwater hockey players are completely self funded, they receive no financial support from any sporting bodies.
