Help Oliver to learn to read and write

Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,
I am reaching out to you with a heartfelt appeal to help my son, Oliver, who is 6 and a half years old, and needs your support. Oliver is a bright and imaginative child who loves being active and enjoys variety of sports and outdoor activities. However, he is facing significant challenges in his learning journey. Oliver is currently on the pathway for an ADHD diagnosis and we’ll be also on the pathway for dyslexia and dyscalculia once he turns seven years old. He struggles with reading, writing, math, pattern recognition, and sequencing. Despite his incredible physical abilities, he finds it difficult to engage in academic settings where focus and speed are required.
Oliver is a kind-hearted soul who is always inclusive and adapts his play to ensure everyone can join in. He has so much to say, and all I want is for him to be able to share his thoughts and explore the world more independently through reading.
The Davis Learning Method has shown great promise in helping neurodiverse individuals like Oliver reach their full potential. This method recognises that dyslexia is not a disability but rather a different way of learning that brings creativity and imagination to the forefront. The approach focuses on sensory learning and symbol mastery, allowing children to thrive in their unique ways. For Oliver, who excels in physical activities but faces challenges in traditional learning environments, this method could be life-changing.
The course consists of ten days of 1-2-1 tuition, totaling three hours each day over two weeks. Oliver's tutor will come to his school, allowing teachers to learn how to support him in the future. There will also be six follow-up sessions to reinforce his new learning style and resources provided to help him regularly utilise the Davis Method. By the end of the two weeks, Oliver will have mastered the alphabet, several tricky words, and essential math skills, including counting to 100. He will also learn how to orient himself and focus better on tasks.
The cost of this transformative course is £4,700. As a solo parent with no financial support from Oliver’s father or family, I am currently working four jobs to provide for us. I have made personal sacrifices, including forgoing holidays and luxuries, to support Oliver's learning and extracurricular activities. It is crucial that he participates in this course in the autumn of 2025, ensuring that his dyslexia remains a gift rather than becoming a disability.
The waiting lists for dyslexia, dyscalculia and ADHD diagnoses are extensive, often taking years to navigate. I have applied for an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), but even if successful, the process can be lengthy and uncertain.
This course will fundamentally change Oliver's life, enabling him to retain his love for learning, confidence, and self-esteem. With the skills he acquires, he will thrive in any school environment, mastering a method that will serve him for life. He will no longer need special accommodations, expensive devices, or extra time for exams. Most importantly, he will be able to express his imaginative stories and share his light with the world.
Any funds raised beyond our goal will be donated to the Gifts for Dyslexia charity to support other children on similar paths.
Thank you for considering supporting Oliver on this vital journey. Every pound and every share helps y
With gratitude,
