About the fundraiser:
Oliver (Instagram handle: @ephemeralforms) is a transgender, low-income, & chronically ill Latine gig worker in the Bay Area.
Oliver is suffering from dire illness due to a mold outbreak in their co-op home. They need help with major emergency expenses, including moving costs, housing deposit, replacing moldy belongings, medical treatment costs, and living expenses while they recover.
Any amount you can give, big or small, will truly help them make it through this crisis. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support.

About Oliver:
Oliver is a beloved member of the Bay Area queer, COVID-cautious, leftist, and DIY music communities. They are a second-generation immigrant, whose parents were refugees from the war in El Salvador. They live with multiple chronic illnesses, and they are AuDHD. Oliver works as a COVID conscious housecleaner and handy-person. They make a low income which pays their rent, but does not provide savings for a large emergency like this.
About the situation:
An outbreak of mold at Oliver's co-op home has caused them severe illness. Oliver has developed debilitating cognitive symptoms that make work and basic life tasks very difficult. With their home no longer safe to stay in, they've had to make an emergency temporary move into their partner's housing.
Unfortunately, their partner's building also has a mold problem, and Oliver's clothes and belongings continue to expose them to mold from their previous housing. The new environment is not safe, and they currently have to wear an N95 mask even while sleeping to reduce exposure. The longer they are exposed, the sicker they become.
Why funds are needed
Oliver needs help to afford:
- Emergency moving costs from their old place. Including a storage unit, etc.
- The cost of mold removal or replacement for their contaminated belongings. Including critical items like their clothes, work supplies and mattress.
- Move-in costs (deposit + first months rent) for long-term safe housing where they can start to recover.
- Medical treatment costs
- Living expenses while their ability to work is majorly reduced during their recovery.
We expect all funds will be used paying for the above. If any extra is raised, it will be put aside to create a much-needed safety net for Oliver.
Fundraiser details & transparency:
100% of funds will go directly to Oliver. This fundraiser was set up at Oliver's request by their close friends. Oliver's friends will support them by keeping the fundraiser updated with progress and periodic updates form Oliver.
Final words:
Oliver has very limited financial resources to survive this dire situation. So, any amount you can contribute, whether that's $5, $50, or $500, will help so much. Sending the fundraiser to friends, family, or sharing on social media also helps a lot. And check back in a month or two to see if we are still fundraising.
