Oliver is my 11-year-old orange cat, and he means everything to me. On December 31st, while my partner was driving him from Saint Louis with our other two pets, Oliver suffered a sudden stomach hemorrhage. It was terrifying to see him in so much pain, and we rushed to get him the emergency care he needed. After a few days, I thought he was recovering, but today he relapsed and had to be hospitalized again.

The costs for his overnight stay at the animal hospital, along with IV medication, hydration, and medication to stop the stomach bleeding, are quickly adding up. I want to do everything I can to give Oliver the best chance at recovery, but the expenses are overwhelming.

Oliver has been my companion since I rescued him in 2018. He has been with me through some of the hardest times in my life—my divorce, depression, and the loneliness of being far from my family as a foreigner. My partner lives in Saint Louis, and I live in Chicago, so Oliver is the one who greets me when I come home and never leaves my side. He is my pillar and my comfort.
