On Valentines Day, Oliver had a life-threatening emergency and needed immediate surgery to survive. We got him the care he needed, and thankfully, he pulled through. Now, we’re just trying to offset the ER Veterinary bill that came with it.
Oliver experienced what is known as GDV (Gastric dilation and volvulus) , a serious and life-threatening condition that affects dogs, especially larger breeds. It occurs when the stomach fills with gas and twists on itself, cutting off blood flow to essential organs. This process can cause severe pain, shock, and if not treated quickly, can be fatal within hours.
The only effective treatment is emergency surgery to untwist the stomach and restore proper blood circulation. Even with prompt intervention, GDV requires intensive care and leads to high veterinary costs due to the complexity of the condition.
Oliver is the sweetest dog and if you know me, you know my dogs are my kids and I’d do anything necessary to save them in a situation like this. The total cost was $4500 and any help would go a long way in easing the financial strain. If you’re able to donate or share, we’d truly appreciate it. Oliver is recovering well, we’re beyond grateful for the support we’ve already received.
Thank you for helping us get through this, it means the world to us!
