Thank you for checking out Oliver Bergquist’s GoFundMe page. My name is Tammy, and Oliver is my grandson.
Oliver was born in April of 2019 with a rare form of Down Syndrome called Robertsonian Translocation. He required oxygen support for the first year and a half of his life, has undergone multiple surgeries to help with breathing, and had surgical repair of bilateral clubfoot. In December of 2022, Oliver successfully completed the Multidisciplinary Feeding Program, granting him the ability to eat pureed food by mouth for the first time in his life. Oliver still requires a feeding tube for fluids at this time. Oliver is a happy child who loves to play with his parents, his little brother, and his dog. He crawls and climbs very well, but at this time he cannot support himself enough to stand and walk.
The purpose of this page is to help raise funds for a special physical therapy that could help Oliver learn to walk. The therapy is called Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI). The team that leads the sessions travels the world offering these services with great results. Acceptance to the program is by application and has limited availability. We are excited to say that Oliver was accepted into their program. Oliver is just barely under their weight limit, so this is a time sensitive therapy for him. Unfortunately, these extensive therapy sessions are not covered by any insurance and all expenses must come out of pocket. These funds will be used exclusively for therapy related expenses for Ollie (which will include the program sessions, required fees for the specialists, and traveling expenses for Ollie and family to the out of state location during the two week session). If enough funds are not raised for this therapy, funds raised will be applied toward his occupational therapies at home. (For more information about DMI, go to https://dmitherapy.com/.)
Oliver's participation in the DMI Program has the potential to increase his quality of life substantially. Oliver and his family and friends hope that you will take part in this life-changing event.
