Help Oliver Attend Envision

Dear Potential Sponsor,

I am a third-grade student at Bridgeton Elementary. I am one of the only three students to have been nominated to represent my school and community at the Envision Academic Summer Program at Wake Forest University in Winston Salem by attending the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF). I will join other motivated students from around the country for an experiential Pathways to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program. I have enclosed a sample of our itinerary for your review.

As you can see, this will be a powerful experience, enabling me to interact with

respected professionals in various fields while building relationships with students

who will be my future colleagues. Attending this program will allow me to further my

interest in science and reach my career goal of becoming a research scientist. I

maintain the highest grades in my class; I am involved in a varsity soccer league

and was recently awarded the Reading Star Award.

Imagine if you had been given this opportunity for a life-changing experience when

you were in school and were unable to participate for lack of funds—that is why I am

writing to you today. My participation in the program depends on whether I can raise

$2,500 in sponsorships. I am investing every dollar I can of my own money

to ensure I don’t miss out on this unique experience, and I am also taking on extra

jobs to raise the funds I need. In addition, through my family, friends, and neighbors, I

have already raised $200.

That leaves me with a balance of $2,300, and I hope that Envision

will consider assisting me with all or some of these costs. I have also

reached out to my parents' companies with similar fundraising requests. My tuition must

be paid no later than the end of March.
