Help Oliver Afford Gender Affirming Surgery

My name is Oliver, and I've been waiting a decade to for the opportunity to receive life-saving and life-changing gender affirming surgery.

I am a transgender person whose masculinizing top surgery is scheduled for the end of August, and while I have insurance, I will still need to pay for a portion of that surgery out of pocket. My surgeon's office likely will not have a cost estimate ready until about two to four weeks before the procedure, but I know I will owe at least $2000 due to my deductible, plus 20% the cost of the surgery.

The toll my gender dysphoria has taken on both my mental and physical health makes top surgery essential to my continued well-being. The effects of binding my chest for as long as I have are catching up to my body; I often experience pain in my chest, back, shoulders, and ribs, even when I'm not binding. And while dysphoria-related difficulty has always caused me anxiety and made it impossible for me to pursue certain activities, in recent years it's become more and more of a struggle just to leave my home because of the discomfort I experience in my own body.

Previously, because of my life circumstances and economic situation, top surgery was not accessible to me. Now that it is, I am so grateful for the support and care of my community. Between this GoFundMe and a Bonfire shirt fundraiser, I am hoping to raise $3500 to cover my surgery and hospital fees. If I raise more money than I need, the rest will be distributed among trans mutual aid funds.
