On Saturday evening, my sister’s sweet dog, Olive, was being walked by our parents when something unimaginable happened. Olive slipped out of her leash and ran toward Layhill Road, a road many of us know is busy and fast-moving. My parents immediately ran after her, but before they could reach her, she was struck by a car.
When my mom heard Olive’s scream, she rushed to her side checking on both Olive and the woman who accidentally hit her. At the same time, my dad ran into the street trying to stop traffic to prevent further harm, but in the chaos, another car hit the woman’s vehicle, causing a four-car accident. Thankfully, everyone involved in the crash is okay and no one was taken to the hospital, though the cars were badly damaged.
Olive, however, is fighting for her life.
She is only one year old, the happiest, most loving, playful girl and she means the world to our family. As many of you know, dogs are not “just pets”; they are truly family members. Olive suffered a severe laceration under her arm, trauma to her eye, and other internal injuries that require ongoing emergency care and several days of close monitoring.
We are asking for help during this incredibly difficult time. Her ER bills are overwhelming, and anything you can contribute will go directly toward giving Olive the critical care she needs to survive and heal.
The Rodas family deeply appreciates any support, shares, or prayers for our sweet Olive. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
