Olive is my 2 1/2 year old pug. She means the world to me and my family. I was gifted Olive by a dear friend at the hospital where I work during a really rough time in my life. She has been exactly what I needed to get through it. Our smooshy face is the sweetest pug with the best personality. Olive has her two moms, four kids, four cats, and big brother Akita who love her.
Recently, Olive started limping on her back left leg and eventually stopped using it altogether. Without hesitation, I brought her to the vet where we learned she has retained cartilage balls on her patella. This condition is causing her pain, and without surgery could lead to her knee dislocating and other serious problems. Because she’s already been seen for this issue, it’s considered a preexisting condition and won’t be covered by pet insurance.
I work as a nursing assistant at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, Washington, and don’t make a lot of money. My partner takes care of the majority of our bills and is in school and working full time. This surgery is quite expensive, and we can’t find a way to afford it other than asking for help.
The surgery will make it so Olive won’t experience any further issues or pain in her leg. She’s brought so much joy and comfort to our family, and it would mean the world to us if she could get this surgery and be pain free. Please feel free to share Olive’s story with anyone who might be interested in helping our little love pug.
