For six years, Olivia Love Love has lived in the same bush near the walking area at Kite Beach. Anyone who walks that stretch knows her — the calm tabby who doesn't run, who sits and watches the world go by, who has let hundreds of strangers stop and say hello.
We feed and care for the beach colony here in Dubai, and Olivia has always been one of the easy ones. Gentle. Steady. Never a problem.
Earlier this year we noticed something wrong with her nose. We assumed a bike had clipped her — it happens on that path. But it didn't heal. It got worse, month after month, and by the time we could get a proper look, the vets were using a word we didn't want to hear: carcinoma.
**Where she is now**
Olivia is out of the bush and at Mike's Vet, receiving treatment. But we're treating her without knowing what she actually has, and that has to change. The doctors need two tests: a biopsy to confirm or rule out cancer, and a test for a fungal infection that causes almost identical swelling in a cat's nose.
That second one matters more than it sounds. If it's the fungal infection, it's treatable — and Olivia gets years instead of months.
**What we're raising**
We want to be completely transparent. This is the quote, exactly as we received it:
- Histopathology (biopsy, one site) — AED 1,347.40
- Cryptococcus antigen test — AED 1,318.28
- Courier fee — AED 180.00
- **Total — AED 2,845.68**
Every dirham goes to the clinic. If we raise more than the target, the extra goes toward her ongoing treatment and, if there's still something left, to the other cats in the colony who need care.
**What happens after**
Olivia is not going back to the beach. Whatever the results say, she's done sleeping outside in 45-degree heat. Once she's stable, we're looking for a foster home while she recovers, and then a permanent one.
She is the easiest cat you will ever meet. If you're in Dubai and you have a quiet room and a soft bed, please get in touch — that's a donation too.
**If you can't give**
Share this. Six years of people walked past Olivia and smiled at her. We only need a fraction of them to see this.
Thank you
