Help Olga's road to recovery from a broken leg

Hi Everyone,
My name is Elmo and I humbly seek your support to raise funds for my long-time friend Olga Stelmakh's road to recovery from a broken leg after a scooter accident.

My closest companion, confidante, sister, and passionate Latin dancer needs your help right now. Olga Stelmakh, a Ukrainian national, age 34, had been traveling around Southeast Asia for the past 4 years when, on January 26th, she had a terrible accident, falling from her trusty scooter as another driver collided into her amidst chaotic traffic at a busy intersection in Bali, Indonesia.

The fall happened at approximately 14:20 local time on January 26th, while she was driving carefully through a busy intersection (while wearing a helmet) on her way to a routine lunch meetup in Pererenan, Bali. As Olga's long-time friend for over 4 years, I can say she is a careful driver, always wears a helmet, is licensed, and has experience driving for many years prior. Unfortunately on this day, she was hit from the rear-left side by a local fellow driver carrying an overloaded cargo of laundry, who failed to recognize Olga’s presence while turning at the intersection.

The impact caused her to lose her balance on the scooter and fell over amidst the chaotic traffic. Immediately after the fall, she felt disoriented and found herself unable to move, walk, or even stand up by herself. Luckily, bystanders were able to swiftly move her to safety and immediately helped to transport her to the nearest hospital.

Upon reaching the hospital, an evaluation was conducted and an X-ray and CT scan revealed the true extent of the injuries. The fall had left Olga with a moderate to severe fracture on the upper part of the shinbone (Tibia) on her left leg, just below the knee joint, which demanded immediate surgical intervention and hospitalization. Needless to say this type of surgery and subsequent long term recovery is very expensive, a financial burden that extends beyond Olga's current financial capability.

Olga's insurance provider was contacted and informed, however it was subsequently clear that they are not covering the accident and the associated medical expenses. Olga's family rallied to raise enough money to get her admitted to a competent hospital for the type of surgery needed and into the operating room as quickly as possible.

She is currently in the general ward recovering post-surgery at RSU Bali Jimbaran hospital. Luckily, the outcome of the surgery was positive and they installed two titanium implants to support the bone. The surgeon is highly confident that Olga will make a full recovery in 6 to 8 weeks' time.

Despite the positive news, we humbly seek your support to raise the funds needed to help her on the journey to recovery to get her back on her feet again. Olga is faced with large unforeseen expenses in the form of a large hospital bill, surgery and medicine costs, and possible unforeseen expenses during the rehabilitation period.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, brings us one step closer to rebuilding and reclaiming a future free from the financial burden of medical debt. Even the smallest amount makes all of the difference.

Your generosity is profoundly appreciated during this challenging time.
