Help Olga to join her family in Pittsburgh!
Olga is the mother-in-law of my friend, a well-known Ukrainian writer from my hometown, Donetsk. She is 85 years old. In 2014 she became a refugee and moved with her family to Kyiv. Last year, the full-scale invasion in Ukraine trapped the family in Bucha. They were rescued by volunteers who risked their lives to save them. The family finally found refuge in Czech Republic.
Olga’s son-in-law has won a small stipend from The City of Asylum (https://cityofasylum.org/residencies/) to come to live and work in Pittsburgh, PA. However, the couple cannot bring Olga on their visa or support her on their stipend. And they cannot leave her behind, all alone in the Czech Republic.
We have found a U4U sponsor for Olga but the sponsor is not located in Pittsburgh, where Olga needs to be near her family. We are collecting funds for her airplane ticket and to sustain her for the first three months.
