My name is Nadiia, and I am writing to you today with a heavy heart, but with a mother’s fierce determination to save my family. We are Ukrainian refugees who found safety in the US, but today, we are facing an enemy that doesn’t care about borders or wars.

My husband, Oleg, is fighting for his life. For 14 long years, Oleg has been battling lymphoma. He is a survivor, a fighter, and the most loving father to our two beautiful daughters, aged 12 and 8.5. This is his 4th relapse. During his last relapse here in the US, we were blessed to receive insurance coverage that allowed him to be treated by a top lymphoma specialist and the head of the lymphoma department at Cedars-Sinai. That treatment saved his life. But today, the bureaucratic healthcare system has failed us. Our insurance company denied coverage for this critical next step. We have been trapped in a web of appeals and paperwork for over six months. But cancer does not wait for bureaucratic replies. Every single second counts, and Oleg is running out of time. The disease is taking a brutal toll. Oleg is completely exhausted, has no energy, and spends most of his days sleeping as his body tries to cope with the immense strain. Because of this, he can no longer work. As refugees, we have always managed to get by on our own, never asking for handouts. But today, we have hit a wall. Without insurance or income, the out-of-pocket cost for hospital visits and treatment at Cedars-Sinai is something we simply cannot afford. My biggest fear is not just financial ruin—it is the psychological trauma this will cause our daughters. Our girls are incredibly attached to their father. Our youngest, 8-year-old Olivia, already understands what death means, and she is terrified. Oleg is a deeply devoted dad who has dedicated every spare moment to our children. I cannot even bear to imagine the profound, lifelong trauma his early departure would leave on our little girls' hearts. They are far too young to grow up without their father.

This is the very first time in 14 years that I am publicly asking for financial help. I am doing this because I have no other choice. I need to keep my husband alive, and I need to ensure my daughters have their father by their side as they grow up.How you can help today:
