Help Old Goat Books reopen after fire
Donation protected
As some people may know, disaster recently struck the Waterloo book community when a fire occurred in another unit of the building where Old Goat Books is located. Smoke caused excessive damage to the store and its inventory and now over 20,000 books need to be restored.
Old Goat Books has been a cornerstone in Waterloo for over 20 years, and two years ago my good friend took over the store. It has been a project of love as she continues to make Old Goat Books a staple in the community.
Restoration of the store and its inventory is possible and underway, and though insurance is helping it will not cover the complete cost. In addition, the store needs to be closed over the holiday season, and possibly for two months after for restoration and restocking, which will severely impact my dear friend and her family. As an independent small business, this is the busiest time of year and any time closed is extremely difficult.
I am hoping to raise $45,000 for Old Goat Books to cover what insurance will not. 100% of the funds raised will go directly to the store, and the money will allow them to restore their inventory and to reopen to continue to serve the community for many more decades to come.
