Hi! I’m Olando Palmer, a Computer Science major with People Media focus at Georgia Tech passionate about front-end development and inclusive design. This summer, I have an incredible opportunity to study and travel across Asia, immersing myself in different cultures to see how diversity shapes creativity, technology, and problem-solving.

Growing up in an affordable housing community, I didn’t have many chances to travel or experience the world beyond the US. But I believe that to create technology that truly includes everyone, you have to understand different perspectives. Experiencing a place so different from where I come from will challenge how I see things and help me become a better designer and thinker. After all, technology should serve people from all backgrounds, and the best way to ensure that is by learning from a wide range of lived experiences.

I plan to make the most of this experience by participating fully in classes, activities, and discussions, where I can learn about the cultural and social factors that influence innovation in Asia. This program isn’t just a chance to grow academically; it’s also a chance to grow as a person, meet my dreams, and bring what I learn back into my work, designing that’s thoughtful, inclusive, and meaningful.
