Help Ukrainian refugee Oksana and her family
Donation protected
My name is Joel Stobbe, and I am raising money for Oksana and her 3 kids. Oksana and her family come from Molochansk which is currently occupied by Russian soldiers.
Oksana is the Director of the Mennonite Center in Ukraine. Through this work, she has dedicated her adult life to raising the standard of living for the people of Ukraine. Using her vast Ukrainian connections, Oksana is continuing the work from Canada, organizing food to be given to the hungry, finding shelter for those whose houses have been bombed, and finding ways to deliver medicine to the sick and wounded.
Because of her strong ties to Canada, Oksana would likely have been targeted by the Russian occupying forces. As soon as the Russian troops invaded, she packed up her kids and fled to the Polish border. Her husband remains in Ukraine as men over 18 are not allowed to leave the country.
They arrived in Canada on March 2 with little more than the clothing on their backs as they fled from Ukraine to Canada. The money that is being raised is being used to pay back the loan for their plane tickets, and assist with the immediate needs of their transition to Canada. Funds raised beyond those immediate needs will be used to assist with the refugee application process.
